Meet Taryn
When people reach out through RADS International or the RADS Facebook Group, it's Taryn they are speaking with or email. Since getting injured in 2012 from ONE BREATH of an exposure to toxic steam at her workplace and eventually being diagnosed with RADS in 2013, she has been on a mission. A mission to promote awareness about this little known condition RADS and to create strategies and methods to reduce triggers and the high anxiety and panic attacks each trigger bought on.
She is a passionate and driven person who works tirelessly shining a light on RADS and has been providing support, advocacy and consultation to hundreds of people from all over the world with RADS for many years.
Prior to her injury Taryn was busy with a professional career co-designing software, developing in-house business systems and she lived an active lifestyle. She was a confident and upbeat person making the most out of every day and enjoying life.
Getting RADS literately stopped her in her tracks and after many months being misdiagnosed, (as RADS can mimic asthma), she decided to take back control of her life and began researching all she could about RADS. Due to the lack of information at the time on the internet, she built this website and also documented much of her personal journey on her other website called Breathing Issues.
"Initially panic and terror consumed my days and nights due to having so many reactions to triggers. When you've had an active lifestyle and in seconds that all changes and you begin suffocating at things you can't see, it's extremely scary. It took a lot of self discipline to turn that energy into passion and to fight like a Warrior. I became more productive and taught myself how to become an "Air Detective" along with many other techniques and simple strategies I created to survive and I share them in my book."A Helpful Guide to Reducing Triggers for RADS (Reactive Airways Dysfunction Syndrome) and Other Breathing Issues".
Since the launch of her websites in 2013, Taryn has been the "go to" person for those with RADS seeking support and information to reduce triggers and live with this often misdiagnosed and little understood condition. Her wealth of experience personally living with RADS and speaking with so many others over the years, gives her a unique and clear insight into how others struggle living with this condition.
She continues to consult with Doctors around the world regarding RADS and works tirelessly in promoting awareness about RADS.
